Installed the Tuftruck 1223v springs today.

A few thoughts.

1 Why the hell didn't Ram install a spring like this at the factory.

2. See #1

3. I installed the springs with a Daystar 1" spacer, after the install of my 1.5 leveling kit the truck was level but visually it looked to me that it had a bit of the bro lean. The new springs with the 1" spacer is perfect.

4. I always felt like I was driving a 52 Desoto. To much body lean when turning and too much wallowing if you went thru a small dip. These springs helped a ton. Not near the lean and no wallowing. A set of good shocks would make it even better.

5. Ride is 1000% better, a bit stiffer unloaded but that was what I was hoping for. it now feels like a truck but still softer than a leaf spring truck. The ride is perfect.

6. Towing- I didn't tow my rv trailer but I hooked it up and put the 700# tongue weight on the truck. Before the springs the ass end would drop a good 3 + " today it only dropped 1"-1.5". With the weight distribution hitch hooked up with very little chain tension it was perfectly level.

Hope this info will help anybody thinking of doing the spring upgrade.

I agree completely with your review, Stea. I had the coils installed on my truck last summer. I also had a pair of Bilstein 4600 shocks installed on the rears at the same time. I have eliminated pretty much all body lean or roll that was present with the factory set up. The TufTruck coils are substantially thicker and heavier than the stock ones. Well worth the price if you have plans on hauling or towing anything with significant weight.

Just a heads up, but TufTruck is coming out with a new coil this spring (TTC-1211) that does 50% more capacity while maintaining stock ride height.

I like the idea of progressive rate coils. How was the install? Did you just get it on a lift and pop the coils right out or were any special tools involved?

No special tools needed.

Lift the truck by the axle then support it with Jack stands on the frame in front of the tires.

Remove tires, remove lower shock bolts and undo sway bar links.

Lower rear axle and springs will pull out.

Install in reverse order.

It took about 45 minutes with a beer break.

This looks like a great mod, it may be my next. I had been unable to really find any information on them by anyone who had installed them though, so this is a good read. I'd absolutely hate to install a suspension mod only to find out that the components weren't very good, especially on a truck.

Were you able to order them directly from Tuftruck, or did you have to go through a distributor? I didn't see an order option on their site. If you don't mind my asking, how much were they?

Also, does the rear axle still articulate way better than leaf equipped trucks, like stock Rams do with their coils?

I bought mine from SD Truck Springs for about $250 shipped. If you go with them, use the sales code at the top of the page to save $20. They were the cheapest back when I ordered them last spring.

So I know this is a bit of a necro-post, but Autoanything gave me a promo code for 20% off Bilstein 5100s so I'm going to pop the front end up to 1.4 and put these TTC-1223Vs I just ordered on while I'm at it. Thanks for the instructions Crow, I'll put up some pics when its all done (which regrettably may be a while). To clarify I ordered 5100s for all 4 corners.

I just got done installing the 1223v's. Super easy. Unlike the post above I did not need to remove the wheels or unbolt the sway bar. I only had to remove the lower shock mount bolts.

One more installation tip is to be careful not to overstretch the brake lines when dropping the axle to get the springs out.

I took the truck for a quick spin around the block, then measured and found the rear is the same exact height as before, as advertised (even though the springs themselves are a little shorter than stock).

The ride felt great in that quick spin around the block. After some more miles and the next heavy load I'm betting I'll like these spring even more.

thank you jawzs2.

I wonder if I should get these or the one advertised for 50%. I will only tow my camper a few time in the summer and have a WD hitch.

I guess I will try stock and see how it look and advise from there. I like the video, really quick install and I have access to a shop so I can do it myself

I just installed the TTC-1211 on my crew cab this weekend. Installation was a breeze 30 minutes. I did take the wheels off, lower shock bolt, and top sway bar bolt spring came right out. It does not appear like the rear end changed heights but I did not measure it prior to installation (dang it). The true test will come in two weeks when I hook up a 6200lb travel trailer for her maiden voyage. According to Tuftruck the 1211 give me 50% increase without affecting the ride or height. Time will tell if they were worth the 238.00...

Hmm 35% increase...if the only reason my payload is only 1580 Lbs is the stock rear springs, then that would make my payload 2133lbs provided that would not exceed the capacity of any other components (which I kinda think it wouldn't).

1 ton conversion!!!!

(I know I know, not really)

They will probably make less of a difference for you with sag then (the 23' 8k box in my sigpic was towed without a WDH), but should still help with stability
