I got a notice saying to update my radio to address issues with the gps navigation. I do see the update when I run my vin. But I do not have navigation activated in my truck. Is their anything else in the update?

I’m in the middle of the update now. I wonder if anything else has changed other the GPS and ”automatic” time mentioned above. The update is about 1.4GB. My GPS was way off the last few weeks but no over the air update came through. So, I am updating via USB drive while hooked up to battery charger.

Hi,
This update ensures continuous access to GPS-based features. Without the update, these features will stop working. Please let me know if you're having any other concerns after the update.

Hi raminator,

This update ensures continuous access to GPS-based features. Without the update, these features will stop working. I would recommend updating your vehicle when you have a chance.
The files for software level 18.45.01 are currently available on driveUconnect.com. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The update over the air failed and now my GPS is not working. Clock is not working adnd the radio stations fade in and out. Still shows the 17.xx.x firmware. I called Uconnect and they send me to the dealer since after putting my vin number in the system it indicates my truck has the new correct firmware. The truck still shows the old one in the radio settings. The dealer is not sure what to do and said it will take 3-4 hours to download and fix the issue. I had to leave my truck at the dealer store. What a mess!

I just purchased a 2014 Laramie Limited, I put in my VIN and it says I need this update so I formatted a 4GB flash drive in FAT32, put the files on it and followed the directions to the T, it says no playable media when plugged in (truck is running as instruction say it should be). Unfortunately it doesn't just start loading the update, it seems to just be looking for music on the USB port and not the batch file to start the install. Also, when I go in to look at previous version on the radio per instructions, there isn't one listed on my radio, thoughts or ideas?

I had this same issue on a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk - the solution was to format the USB as MS-DOS FAT32. If you have a Mac, use Disk Utility to Erase the USB drive and reformat as MS-DOS FAT32. If you have a PC I think you right click the USB drive and select Format. When you're done, put the file in the root folder and try again. I used a 32 GB USB and it worked fine - I've read forums that say it has to be EXACTLY 4 GB USB but that's not true. I updated Uconnect from v17.35.xx to 18.45.01 successfully using this method.

I had nothing but issues with this update but got it working. At first the md5 hash faile so I switched usb sticks and down loaded it again. At this point it was stuck repeating unit one and two and I COULD NOT get it out of that loop. I tried the files on the root file system and in the sub directory my unzip application my zip program put the files in. The thing that worked for me is I unchecked the quick format in windows and did a full fat32 format on the usb stick, loaded the files in the root directory and it was off and running. Very painful to get to that point.

Ok folks, here is an inside tribal knowledge for firmware updates:
Windows PC or laptop. Broadband highspeed connection preferred.
If you have a newer mac, be sure you have the option to format windows fat32 for the usb thumbdrive. Download file to pc and extract all to drive letter only of usb.
Website: www.driveuconnect.com
Scroll to bottom, click software update. Should be a link under the support column second line down.
Enter Vin, check for updates. If you do not see the popup or page, disable popup blocker and clear your browsing history including cache and cookies. Close browser, reopen, start step 1
Click get started button
click view available updates
click download update (be sure zip file downloads to your computer, NOT the thumbdrive.
USB thumbdrive needs to be no less than 4GB and no greater than 32GB. It must be formatted to FAT32.
Any name brand, quick format fat32, Some thumbdrives like sandisk and lexar include the exfat format.
Right click your thumbdrive in my computer or win 10 this pc, select format. In the popup, select fat32, select quick format, then start.
Note drive letter assigned to usb.
Locate downloaded update zip on your pc, right click file, select extract all. In the popup, use browse for destination and select the letter assigned to your thumbdrive only. Start.
Safely remove thumbdrive from pc.
Start vehicle, keep in park and running. Plug usb into usb port on the console. There may be more than one including media. If no popup on uconnect screen for validated update within 2 minutes, try another port.
Should not take longer than two minutes to recognize valid update files after plugging in usb.
update may take 20 - 30 minutes or less. do not interrupt progress.
When the question comes up after the update to reinstall, select no.
After update it may require soft boot and two ignition cycles
Soft boot is to press and hold volume and tuner/select physical knobs until the screen blacks out and release.
Allow a few minutes to load any apps or systems.
Once loaded, start power cycles.
One power cycle is turning off the ignition, if key ignition remove key, open driver side door. Leave open until radio and running dash lights power down. About 8 seconds.
Close driver side door and start ignition again.
Wait 60 seconds once radio is back on before last power cycle.
Perform second power cycle. After last power cycle allow vehicle to run up to 5 minutes.
Navigation may need to recalibrate by moving your vehicle to another cross street or main road.

I have the same problem. About 20-25 minutes, unit 14 (HD), as soon as it starts, I get the message shown here.
Image

I have reset several times but always the same result. I tried different USB drives, even re-downloaded the package, unzipped and put contents on a clean drive. The error log always shows the following. But right now my unit is a brick, I can't use seat/steering wheel heaters, no backup camera, and the backup alerts are malfunctioning. I'm not a happy camper. Any ideas what is going on and how to fix?

Installing unit 14 HD Update

So not new to Rams, but thinking about getting a newer RAM with Uconnect.

Found a 14 with the 8.4 and I assume it needs to be updated. I've seems some 2018, 2019 etc 4th gens have like a blue and black background. Is that a different update?
Do all Uconnects have apple car play and andriod auto?

Does 18.45.01 update the maps too?

Thanks

I have a 2013 canadian Ram 1500 with 8.4AN and when I check on Uconnect web site with my VIN it say that I'm up to date.... My Uconnect firmware version is 17.43.01 and I can't obtain firmware 18.45.01.
Is there a way to obtain the latest firmware for my truck and is there a difference between US and CAD fitmware files?

Just acquired a 2013 1500 Ram Truck. I think a Big Horn. I'm unfamiliar with Uconnect because this is the first dodge I ever owned. The current Uconnect version is 18.13.17. Seems the new version is 18.45.01. Are there any benefits to updating to this version? I'm not even sure what all this version of Uconnect offers but it seems like updating is a pain and can become expensive if something goes wrong. Any help or knowledge will be appreciated. Is there a site I haven't found that list the features of the different version that one would recommend? I have looked at so many sites andf have a general idea but it would be nice if I could see the options available for the different versions on one site. Thank You!
