Some good news for me . Chrysler has agreed to supply the parts for free, I pay labor. better than nothing. But of course no parts on the horizon, so I wait. They cant get them til the end of June. Hopefully the revised version will last longer than the originals.

Thank you. The service manager at the dealership said he is contacting Chrysler on my behalf. I'm currently waiting to hear back.
thank you

Which parts need replacement? Was it both the HCU and the ABS Module? I know the module is restricted and Ram limits the distribution, but the HCU is readily available.

Well I got mine into the dealer just a few weeks before my warranty ran out. They already knew what was wrong with it just as soon as I told them what it was doing! They put a new ABS pump on it and said it was fixed. I’m clueless to how this isn’t a recall yet?
Finally got my truck to the dealer this past week, both control module and abs controller being replaced once parts arrive, could be 3 months per the dealer, gotta have my truck!
Yes - a cost for even looking! Who is @ramcares and can they do anything? Have they helped you or anyone else here? I need help so badly.

I know there are supply chain issues, but this abs/service electronic brakes is evidently a manufacturer issue. My dealer had me pay 50% down before they would order parts, same parts that everyone else is experiencing failure of. Ram needs to step up, I bought my truck because of reputation, I am quickly losing that confidence. This is costing $1100 to fix if and when the can get the parts. Where is the recall? Not safe to drive with that constant beeping and not knowing if brakes will fail when needed!

Ram recommends replacing the HCU first, and if the C0020-01 code shows after the replacement to then replace the ABS Module. They explain it in a TSB from 2020: S2005000004 RAM Technical Service Bulletin
On my truck they followed this procedure and the fix was complete. No code after the HCU was replaced. And as the TSB explains it is the ABS module that is in short supply. The HCU can be had quickly. I would not hurt to call @ramcares to get them involved as well.

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie with the 6.7 Cummins with 39k Miles and I just started getting the Service Antilock Braking System and Service Electronic Brake System warning. I use my truck to pull my 5th wheel RV and I am 400 miles from home for about a month. Sounds like it takes more than a month to get parts.

It depends on which parts are needed. If you need only the HCU the part can be obtained in a day or two. The ABS module is restricted by Ram and they control who gets them. My earlier post above links to the TSB that explains the service procedure.

Is there actually a Ramcares? How do you contact?
I put the information in my earlier posts on this thread. Your situation is similar to mine and Ram did pay for the repair but it took some time to get things worked out. In my case the C0020-01 code was shown, but that is not totally diagnostic as to the needed repair. Sometimes only the HCU needs replacement, which was what happened with mine, but others have needed both the HCU and the ABS module. Best phone number for @ramcares is (844) 888-0601.

Hello! I just joined to add my 2018 2500, with 52,500 miles, as a victim of the C0020-01 error. Like others have said the ABS module needs to be replaced, it's supposed to be in on Tuesday. My extended warranty will cover the ABS module and the HCU but my truck also needs new brakes all around so I'm still looking at a thousand bucks to get it fixed.

My 2015 ram3500 dually with 122k miles started the signs of electronic brake system
Occurring over rough roads then final threw this hard code U0121 “loss of communication with anti lock brake system control module “
Do not panic - the TCP (engine fuse box ) that assy is the culprit.
1st disconnect both batt positives isolate.

Remove lid of box then push in release tabs and lift box upward out of box.
Flip tcp assy over and press firmly each wire harness wiring into it’s socketed assy.
There is a larger 10 blue wire at the end of the bottom of the box. .. remember this wire...
If ever your cab blower motor stops blowing
But the ac is still running push that wire in it’s known to drop and make poor connection.
Place tcp assy back in box holder
Put cover back on
Put pos connections back on both batteries
Turn key to run position
Clear all sync in memory
Shut off key
Turn key back on
Start truck and engine light goes away.
You are never stuck as long as you can clear
DTC errors
Remove pos from battery

2018 RAM 2500 39k miles
  • My TCS light came on at 36k 3mo ago miles after backing up in mud and the tires spun a little. TCS has been on ever since.
  • I got around to troubleshooting last week:
    • removed all 4 wheel speed sensors and cleaned
    • Both rear sensors had significant rust dust on them
    • All four are original sensors - I replaced both front wheel bearings early this year
  • After I did this ABS light would come on when I hit a bump
    • Ohmed out all 4 sensors - Not all the exact same values, but within 5%
    • I have one new sensor that came with a wheel bearing that was an open. Not going to install this one!
    • Ordered an OBDLink MX+ and alfaobd. Same day AMZ is awesome!
      • Did some logging while driving. All four sensors are reporting speed though the front left averages .1Kph higher than the rest. Ill probably replace this one.
      • The ABS module is reporting codes, but the body module isnt. No CEL, just TCS and intermittent ABS.
        • C0031, C0034, C0020
        • "Error intermittent appears on all codes" and "Failure warning lamp 'ON': Not requested"
        • After driving I got C0051 - this is probably because I didn't install my steering wheel straight after replacing the steering shaft.
      • I noticed that I had not secured the front right wheel speed sensor wiring to the loom and corrected this
    • Went for a 10min drive and the ABS light did not intermittently come on. Will need to do more driving on rough roads to confirm, but it may have been the front right sensor wiring not being secured. TCS light is still on.
  • After all of the above - One or both of the front brakes is continuously pulsating while driving. Wheels chirp while going around all corners. Fuel mileage is down 20-30%.
    • I plan on replacing both front wheel speed sensors next.
Other notes:
  • There are quite a few YT videos of damaged wiring loom above the gas tank that are for the rear wheel speed sensors.
  • Adding oversized tires often requires cutting the plastic fender liner to prevent rubbing. On the rivers sided there is a wiring harness connector that will be exposed to mud/water when the wheel liner is trimmed.
  • My truck had death wobble starting around 10k miles. At 20k miles it was happening daily so I took it into RAM who claimed they couldn't reproduce. I am sharing this because the death wobble caused many other component failures.
    • I ended up replacing the following parts which resolved the death wobble:
      • Ball joints upper/lower both sides. Both lowers were so lose that you could use them as maracas
      • Front wheel bearing assys. both sides - Both were making noise when spinning
      • Steering shaft
      • All new shocks - Air in the shocks could contribute to death wobble
      • New steering stabilizer - Masked the death wobble for a while until the ball joints got really bad
      • Drag link and tie rod - slop in both
      • steering box brace
      • Track bar
Ill update after replacing the front wheel speed sensors.
