Has anyone received notice that the parts for the recall are available? I'd like to just pull the ABS fuse until this gets fixed so I can atleast use cruise control. Has anyone had luck with that?
I went into my dealer (Huffines, Lewisville TX) on April 23rd, and they said they had the part and I could schedule replacement. I didn't schedule because I had already changed the motor on the HCU from a 2011 1500, and it was working fine. Plus I was going on a cross country trip the following week. Which had no issues. The reason I was at the dealer was because when I did the motor change I noticed I was missing screws from fender shield and the HCU dust shield was gone from when they replaced the first HCU in 2021. The parts guys at Huffines were so cool that they gave me the screws, riv-nuts and dust-shield free of charge. I would go and ask your dealers if they can do the recall. Not sure too many will advertise. 2018 2500 6.4

2018 4500 Ram Cummins 77,000 miles ABS controller replaced at approximately 27000 miles. Lights for ABS and more have been on the last 6 months. Help?
HCU replaced twice on our 2017 RAM 2500, then MOPAR decides it is a recall C4B, see below. Recall card gives instructions on how to file for reimbursement, that was 9 months ago, I do not expect to see a dime after submitting it twice since the initial submission.

how can you tell if you are in this recall campaign.. I have a 2017 3500 no issues with brakes at all.. its sold as a 17 but the Date of Manf is 08/16.. it was a special order by the PO as well so I wonder if they used the older HCU and it was at the end of the 16 line as they started the 17 models on paper. good luck maybe??

Recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 arrived in the mail today and quote "The remedy for this condition is not currently available. We are making every effort to finalize the remedy, and will service your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor) when the remedy is available."
Agreed, we went through the motions of going to the dealer. After my making many phone calls to said dealer I received very little (poor at best) follow up from them. I reached out to a regional MOPAR # I found on line, 2 weeks later 2nd HCU was installed after months of excuses, coincidence? Maybe? Love MOPAR, have for along time, our local dealer continues to provide subpar service through 3 different owners in 30 years of dealing with them.

My Dealer tells me that parts are not available for at least 6 months. no way to turn off the annoying beeping and Antilock/electronic braking system flashing. so much so that the electronic speedometer cannot be seen. very disappointed. 153K. there is a recall but, no timeframe for repairs. RAM seems to be on top of their game...

I chose a Ram truck because it had all of the features I needed in the price range I could afford. This is my first next vehicle ever. I have only ever bought used vehicles before. I was able to get the perfect truck for me. It is a 2018 tradesman with vinyl flooring, no keyless entry and vinyl seats. So to the average owner it is nothing by special but to me it is the truck I saved for and waited until I was 45 years old to buy. The only reason that I have a heavy duty 2500 is to tow my travel trailer. Previously I had a 1999 Chevy 1500 suburban that could not safely tow my 28 foot camper. In 2018 we test drove a lot of vehicles before I settled in Ram as being the best value and safest option for towing my family and my camper around. This was in part due to the sway control system and the rest due to the larger truck. We are ready to start now either the third or fourth year of towing the family and the dog around with a faulty ABS controller. I get the feeling that RAM does not care about the safety of me or my family enough to fix this issue. Each time we go out with the camper I think “boy I hope I don’t have to stop quick”. Because I can’t, this thing will lock up and slide. In the snow I have to pump the breaks to stop like I did with the 70’s cars I drove. What is worse is that I believe they could fix this tomorrow if they wanted to. I would bet a stack of 100’s that if I trade this truck in next week on a new model mine would miraculously get fixed and be back in the lot asap. My current RAM is a super clean 2018 2500 gaser with 33000 it would sell fast in the used lot. And I know there is no way in the world they would park it in the back corner of the lot and wait for the fix to become available. RAM you need to get your act together and stop playing the numbers game and fix this issue.

go to junk yard.. find a 2014-2016,, take ABS unit off,,put on truck,,, enjoy life and screw the dealer.. I have a 2017,, date of birth 8/16 with now 101K miles and NO abs issues.. most have been a change in late 16 early 17 that is causing the issues.. and it not just on ram.. many other manf use the same control unit.. chev, etc.. if you google search it you will find a ton os stuff..

Yes. My issue was resolved with the replacement of the
68437098AB Module Anti Lock Brake System and the
68143491AA Control Anti Lock Brake System
I am having the same issue. The service guy said to fix it would be around $2,600. Apparently the antilock brake module is on a long backorder.
Mind if I ask what you paid to have yours fixed?

As of last year it has become a recall BUT last I knew still no parts available. My original repair was done under special warranty cost me $200 which I was recently refunded. But it still used older parts and failed within 3 months and like you was told no parts would be available for 6 or so months so traded truck for a new one.

I just ran across this post. My truck is doing the EXACT SAME THING. Intermittent ping and EBS / ABS Service lights. Taking to dealership tomorrow. 2018 Ram 2500 with 13K miles.

Has your problem been resolved since your original post?

Thanks!
Did you y have ll luck to get yours serviced? Any problems with the antilock brake system after that incident? Thanks for letting me know!.. I have a truck doing the same thing amd am tryinging to figure out what to do with it.... says there's no remedy for mine yet....

Thats exactly what my dealer told me...
It's August already and still no parts available...
If there's no parts, I wonder why they do the recall?

2018 Ram 2500 and also having the same issue with Service Electronic Braking System at 128k. After reading much of the Recall's, seems that this is a common issue. Also watched a few videos online with similar situations explaining a few issues. I am not a mechanic however I don't abuse my truck or anything of that nature but for sure can tell something doesn't seem right as it turns off/on a ton, sometime can stop for 20 miles or so and then start again. Definitely prevents the cruise control from working, but brakes still work fine so no issues on that. I have an appointment made at Ram to take it in and see if it's the recall causing the issue or some other issue. Will keep all posted on my outcome.
Hey did you have any problem with the truck so far?
Is it something that'll cause a wreck if we keep using the truck?
It's our main work yuck and I almost cannot afford to get a different one!.. I really appreciate your answer!..

We are on our 4th failure now. 2017 3500HD. Only 32K miles as used pretty much only for hauling livestock.
Same response, no new parts yet. My dealer is going to replace the same HCU at Ram’s cost again to hold us over. So a recall and class suit and still no parts???
Unbelievable. What good is a recall with no fix months later?
BTW try to put it into 4WD. Guess what, disabled with this error.
