I have the 20" sport stock rims and am looking for a set of 20" rims for the winter tires. Are all 20" Ram 1500 rims fit on my truck regardless their years? Some of the rims I found are 2005s.

Thanks in advance

I found some 2013 20 inch rims and they fit my 2014. Just had them mounted this weekend with snow tires. I got mine on Craigslist for 300 bucks, my local dealer had a set they pulled off a new truck you might check with your local dealer to see if they have any. Also if your going to go with TPMS the moparpartsonline through this forum was the cheapest they were 24 bucks each.

Canadians and their winter rims. lol. just get a sweet set of year round ones so you can look at them 24/7!! Your area of canada requires snow tires though right? I know a lot of provinces do. Some people I know in ontario have been running a tire that will satisfy year round conditions so they can keep 1 set of rims.

No, snow tires in Ontario is not mandatory, however, highly recommended. I had all weather tires before. They were GoodYear Dura trac, there are snow tires you can run all year round. They are not bad for city driving in the winter but they are definitely not the best on ice/snow condition. Yes they do look great but safety is what I am going for. I am done with all weather tires and going to get my first set of winters.

Good for you. I'll see you in the ditch in a big snowstorm then! :wavey:

As a volunteer firefighter, I urge people to get tires appropriate to the weather that they drive in. In many states and provinces, tires that have a Snowflake symbol (Severe Snow Service) is now required for travel on major highways.

I have been to many accidents where people are overconfident because they have 4WD/AWD and decide to stick with tires that are not suitable for the conditions they are facing. Your stopping and turning capability are the important things, not the acceleration that AWD/4WD provides.

the 2003 - 2016 Ram rims are interchangeable, they all have the same bolt pattern & 9/16th inch lug studs

the only difference is with the thread type of the 2013 - 2016 lug studs which
have a Metric thread

make sure that the lug nuts have the proper type of seating curvature

17" rims use taller rubber tires & generally have a narrow width
many people prefer the narrower tire when driving in unplowed deeper snow
they don't want to ride on top of the snow, like you would want to do with loose desert sand

That's the perfect answer I am looking for. 265/70/17 will have smaller size in diameter as compared to the 275/60/20 but they are widely available and cheaper. I am sure it won't make a huge difference in terms of driving but I just like everything be right. Since my truck uses 275/60/20, I would like to use the same size winter tires.

I am not here to debate whether it's worth it to have winter tires. It's all personal preference. You can run bald tires in the winter if you think it's safe. Just do whatever you think is right.

An accurate way of matching different dimensioned tires is to go to the manufacturers website and look up the Revolutions Per Mile specs on the exact tire you are considering. This is the preferred method for getting it bang on. Crunching numbers or measuring height doesn't take into account the sidewall flex which vary from tire to tire.

And for the OP, I bought my 20" Ram factory aluminum wheels for my winters off Ebay. Now my truck not only looks good in the winter but it handles great during the 95% of the time there's not actually snow or ice on the road.

Even though I live in Canada, I still bought these from the states and shipped them up to the border. $550 for the set of 4! New takeoffs, no marks!

Come on guys. No need to get off the topic and start arguing about good vs bad driver and all season vs winter tires.

Let's face it. Tires don't make anyone a better driver, but proper tires will improve the handling of your vehicle. Maybe not a lot, but it for sure helps. Whether you need winter tires is, like I said, a personal preference. It all comes down to one question, "Do you feel safe driving your vehicle in the winter without winter tires?"

I had a Toyota Echo for 5 years, the lightest car you can imagine, with no winter tires and I was ok with that. Why? Because I took bus to school everyday and I was only using my car to get groceries on weekends. At that time, I lived downtown and the roads were always plowed. Did I feel safe? Yes.

I also had a 2wd Chevy pickup for 6 years. I put all WEATHER tires (goodyear territory) on it. (All weather tires do have the snow peak logo). I sometimes get stuck on bad weather, but it's not too bad. Did I feel safe? Most of time, but not on very stormy days.

Now I am a proud owner of a 4X4 Ram. Why the hell am I getting winter tires then I didn't have them before. Well, I want MAX safety. That's what I want, and that's why I am paying extra to get winter tires.

Do whatever you want, all seasons or winters, Just ask yourself this question "Do you feel safe without winter tires?"

Oh I don't care about what makes me safe, that's not my point. I'm not selfish enough to think that my actions only affect me. If I slide off the road, that only effects me. If you slide off the road, it only effects you. But it's when you hit me or someone else, for no other reason than to save x amount of dollars every 3-4 years or so, you've purposely caused harm to other people.

another thing to consider,

You can NOT run regular chains when you have the 20" rims on a Ram 1500

1500 Models Rear Only P265/70R17 S Class chains

SAE Class (S) Clearance
LT cable chains are built for larger tires on Light Trucks and SUV's. They also give better traction than ladder style chains and longer wear using cross cables made of ALLOY ROLLERS. The diagonal cross cable design provides a smooth ride and easy installation.
