If you have a 2014 ram 1500 4x4, DO NOT get a pro-comp 6" lift kit!!!
There are 2 recalls on this kit!!! What happens is the front knuckle design pro-comp has not changed since 2006 so the steer stop which is molded into the knuckle has to be grind-ed off or it will dig into you lower a-arm. And thats not the worst part... Worst part is, they did not design the front differential brackets right, so the front diff hits the steering box under even the slightest loads and causes a vibration up through the steering wheel, not to mention grinds into the steering box!
How do I know all this you ask, good question... I had a shop talk me into putting this pro-comp on my truck, which of course has these problems.
I have done extensive research since and though pro-comp has a truck and is working on a fix.... BDS however, made there kit right the first time and do NOT have these or any other issues with there kits, which is the kit I wanted in the first place, but this shop talked me out of... well now they get to take it all off and put the BDS kit on.... I will update as it goes on, but if ya want the right lift kit with no issues, get the BDS!!!

That is very interesting. I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Sport 4x4 and I have a 6" ProComp lift and do not have any of the issues that you are describing....installation error maybe?

Pro-comp issues

Well, there may be just enough difference between a 2013 and 2014. Or you did a different kit.. the kit I installed is the K2084BPX. Also, my truck is a Longhorn 4x4, not a sport, so maybe there is something different... not sure.
But, I would highly suggest you look under your truck and see if the knuckles have been digging into your lower a arms, it would be on the lower rear side of the A arms on both sides. And I will bet your turning radius is horrible.
Also, look at the front diff there is a bolt on the very front that if it hits the steering box, you will clearly see a mark. I have marks on the steering box and the diff from where it has been rubbing.
When the truck is sitting there is about a 1/4" or so gap, the rubbing occurs under a load, ie... turning and or acceleration.
I have been in contact with one of the head techs at pro-comp and he was the one that told me of the re working of the brackets and that the knuckles are the same since 2006... Bottom line, the pro-comp kit is an inferior kit to the BDS

i had issues with my procomp level kit on a 2014. i pleaded with them to check their parts against 2014's because there must be an design change in some of the suspension parts...

they compensated me in my case, but not without a fight. i even suggested they should suspend their parts being available to 2014 until they could do some R&D...

My local shop recommended BDS if I had the cash their second was fabtech. They aren't fans of procomp or RCX. They have a lot of magazine trucks so they must be doing something right.

OK, pro-comp POS is off and BDS is on!!! So, now that I have seen both lift kits first hand, had them both on my truck, I can 1000% tell you that pro-comp is by far and away a cheap wanna b kit!!! The BDS lift kit is so far superior it's not even funny!!! First and foremost it's designed properly so when it's installed it actually works properly, unlike the pro-comp!! Secondly, the ride quality is better as well. The pro-comp rear brackets are also designed improperly, which causes the truck to "dog walk" while driving down the road and there is say a good dip in the road, the rear end of the truck will not go up and down straight causing a wiggle motion "dog walk". The BDS kit does not have any of these issues!!!
I hope all my info has helped, so y'all don't make the same mistake I made cause having to deal with swapping suspension lift kits, not the funnest thing... Happy lifting

Not the first time I've heard of issues with Pro-Comp; I used to figure they must be OK because they're popular, but their shocks have problems too.

As a general rule, I try to avoid anything with the word "Pro" in it....

That being said I did a little search on "Pro-Comp". They are owned by Transamerican auto parts which also owns 4 Wheel Parts, Smittybilt, Go Warn and a bunch of other companies. That explains why 4 Wheel parts always pushes Pro-comp when you inquire about lifts and such.

Gotta love the internet.

Mine was lifted at the dealer with a pro comp 6". Looked under it for the marks on the a arms and could see a little spot on each side but very slight. Nothing on the steering box. Other than finding someone who could align it a few months ago, I have had 20,000 trouble free miles with this kit.

I have the same kit ony 2019 1500 4x4 classic . It rides like shit and dog walks in the rear as well . I feel every crack and bump something fierce even at 30 psi to help . Did your ride quality improve with the BDS and did you get coilovers ? I was going to get the fox with the 6 inch kit BDS has . Thanks for sharing your info . My steering knuckles are digging intonmy control arms as well ,just checked .
