Let me tell you about my new Wix engine air filter.

Last week I had a look at my air cleaner to see if it needed replacement. With 24K miles on the clock, it was getting pretty dirty and so I decided to change it. The local O'Reilly Auto Parts store carried two brands of filter, a cheapo with unreinforced pleats and no metal screen; and a more expensive Wix #42725 which is built like a tank by comparison. Like the original Mopar filter, it has a metal screen on the outlet side but in addition, the pleats are about 3 times as deep as the original filter and they are held in place by a glue strip across the bottom which prevents the pleats from collapsing against each other. Cost was $25.
After installation, I was amazed at how much more smoothly and quietly the engine seemed to run. Acceleration is improved as well, but the kicker is that my mileage has increased by 3 mpg (according to the truck's computer).
No doubt that some of the improvement is because the old filter needed replacement; but I can also say that the truck has never performed this well, even when new.
Just thought I'd pass this along.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I do not own stock in Wix and I do not sell auto parts.
Happy motoring!

Other than the original Mopar filter I have run only Purolator air filters. They seem well built and I suspect they may actually make them for Mopar. Wix has a good reputation, so your glowing review doesn't come as a surprise

Wix, Fram, or Purolator been using them for decades.
Whichever is on sale or available, when I need it.

Imagine my own preference would be Wix, then Fram, then Purolator but for no particular reason.

Speaking of air filters... Does anyone have experience with running K&N? I used to run them in my Fords when we lived on the dirt road, but this is my first new vehicle since moving & not sure if I'll need the extra dust protection.

K&Ns filter out less dust than a paper filter

Sorry about the delay. I now have a Jeep instead of the truck, and I wasn't notified about this thread until today. I don't visit the Ram forum much anymore.
I remained happy with the Wix filter. I saw no difference in my mileage. It was a perfect fit, and had much more filter surface available so it stands to reason that it would take longer to create a restriction.

I just installed a Napa Gold (made by Wix) engine air filter in my 2017. I am happy to report that the filter fit and installed just like the OEM Mopar unit.

Compared to the Mopar filter, the Napa gold had larger, thicker pleats, felt heavier and seemed like the same or slightly higher overall quality. The only downside to the Napa Gold filter that I could find is that it is made in China....

I wonder how well the Mopar performance intake does over the stock,

I'd be surprised if it were any different in performance.

The Mopar CAI is a dry media filter

EVIC is the screen in the gauge cluster. It doesn't prompt for air filter changes
