Once you know the truck, you should have a pretty good idea of how much fuel you have left. I know i can go 80ish miles once the light comes on: 8gal left - 2 for safety&pump = 6gal x 15mpg = 90 miles (then cut some off to be safe). Just use conservative estimates and you'll be fine. The only time it bothers me is in the winter when i can't use the remote start when there's still 8 gallons in the tank. Could idle for a day with that much fuel.
Yeah that's what Im saying. I can drive home from Wilmington with a 3000lb trailer once the light is on. I don't have remote start so that part makes no difference

WTF is Imperial? I thought Canada used Metric.

So aside from having to listen to the facile arguments about how the metric system is better, now we have to be able to convert from two different systems of measure??

There only two types of. Countries. The ones that use the metric system and the other one that landed a man on the moon!
NASA engineers use full metric now. For the lunar landings the hardware was designed in metric and the travel calculations measured in imperial. No idea why they did that, but i guess they just wanted to watch the world (and moon) burn.

Just happened to me again today. Gauge said empty, DTE was about 35 miles and I had about 80 miles to go. I get off the highway and fill up. It tops off with only 27.5 gallons. So frustrating because I easily could have finished my journey without stopping if the gauge was reading correctly. I had 1/8th of a tank left!

It would be nice if they could fix it so our fuel gauges would read correctly. We pay to get the larger tank and they're too cheap to implement it correctly. I take my truck in this next week to get the broken exhaust manifold bolts replaced. I'm going to see if they have an update for that yet.

Fuel gauge reading update for 32 gal tank

All Concerned,

Had my truck at the dealership yesterday. Asked about the software update for the "fuel reading issues" for the 32 gal gas tanks.
No updates out yet.
At least in Fayetteville, NC.

I wonder if they could roll out the update OTA. Only reason I say that is I had to fill up my 32 gallon tank today. Low fuel light was on and distance to empty said 30 miles. Pump clicked off at 29 gallons. I pressed the lever once and got to 29.5 gallons before it clicked off. Usually when I run my tank down that low, it clicks off at around 27 gallons and if I try one more time I'll get fuel poring out my fill hole before the 2nd click. This is only the 2nd time in 4+ years that I've been able to put 29+ gallons in my tank. The other time my distance to empty said low fuel for probably 20 miles before I could get to a station.
