Perfect, thank you...!!!
sure thing...and if you don't have one, i'd recommend getting a clip puller from your local autoparts. for ~$10, it's worth its weight in gold. you'll have six for the radiator/fan cover and two for the access ports in the fender liners. the push-type used in the fender liners are a little more stout so a screwdriver would work but the christmas tree ones used for the radiator/fan cover are very delicate. other than that, a 10mm socket w/small extension will be all you need.

Good luck

haven't had the time to do this at dark, but here is a shot back away from it with fogs so you can see the difference in clarity/color.

Oh wow that is pretty significant. Thanks!

Sure thing...certainly worth $20 and a little time IMO...don't care about the bulb life since I only drive like 2hrs at night per month, although worth noting for some that it's ~500hrs versus ~2000hrs for the H11. Not sure if that was previously posted, I ran across that trying to track the bulbs down.

Looks good, getting flashed by anyone yet?
I would doubt it unless you raised your lights up. The only physical difference between the h11 and h9 is that the h9 doesn't have a glare cap (but your headlight assembly does so it's a moot point).

Unlike an HID bulb or LED Glue stick, the hotspot is still in the same location. I guess there would be a slight increase in glare relative to the lightsource growing more intense, but I wouldn't think enough to blind people.

I'm surprised more people aren't upgrading the highbeam with the 9011... :D

negative...my lights are on for less than five minutes in a residential area in the morning and never on the ride home from work. haven't had a chance to speak of to pair the new bulbs with oncoming traffic, but i don't think it would be an issue.

IMO there is a chance to change the output angle depending how tight and/or the order in which you re-fasten the three bolts. the front two draw it down and the rear draws it back towards the fender. i got them all snug, then tightened the front two down first, then moved to the rear. you've messed with the lights more than me, but i could see how someone might goof up just cranking one after another...

The life doesn't seem like a big deal. I am still on my original lights after 3 years, and a lot of my driving has been at night

yeah, i considered it moot for me...what's $20 in several years...

...side note, my brother in law gave me a bed extender the other night. found info on it...it's from Amp Research! he never used it on his F150 so it's basically new. he only had the unit and straps for the tailgate latch so i ordered the hardware last night. should be a nice $220 addition for ~$15!

That has a lot to do with the fact that your truck came equipped with Long life bulbs and you dont' have DRL's :p

That being said, just switching to regular life bulbs or this H9 swap is going to feel like someone installed the power of the sun into your headlamps.

Yeah IMHO DRLs don't really make you any more visible so they're kinda pointless. I also don't live where the winter weather is as extreme as Canada.

TBF I waited tables night shift for about the first year I owned it so about 75% of my driving was at night.

I could argue about the functionality of DRL's with you for hours, but I won't. Our winters aren't extreme in Vancouver but we use DRL's anyway. A 12V bulb on reduced power lets say 6V has a near indefinite life.

Lets just say the reason that the US doesn't have them is because of far reaching lobby interests that are able to influence scientific studies and cater them to increase the financial welfare of the lobby.

We'll not argue this one :wavey:

The only time I feel like I notice DRL's is when one is out (usually on Chevys) and it's "winking." Now, some of the newer vehicles with LED accent lighting as DRL's I notice. Like the new higher end Tundra's, Audi's, Chargers, some Chevys, etc.

100% agree. I like those systems better where the accents are full burn and are integrated into some other part of the front fascia and the turn signals do their thing independently.

DRL's can be asthetic when they're done right :).

The winking DRL's are the "synchronous type" I don't like those... It's more natural for the turn signal to be the DRL as it just starts blinking opposed to the headlamp shutting off first and then the blinker coming on.

Agreed; I also notice them on HMMWVs especially because the roadmasters come down pretty hard on the Marines for having lights out. Then they can pull them over and it opens the door for them to find other things like expired trip tickets and whatever else.
