Use a good Synthetic grease.

 

I use a GL-5 grease.

 

From the maintenance manual, "Use MOPAR Type MS-6560 (lithium-based grease)".

So I have been trying to grease this front driveshaft zerk and I swear that mine is capped off. Something is there however no hole to stick the needle into. I've even had it up on a lift for a mechanic to look at. Even he was dumbfounded and unable to see where to insert anything. Anyone with a 2017 manage to find where to grease this thing ? :4-dontknow:

It's not a zerk fitting, it's there...

the grease fitting is typically there...You rarely are able to access it w/o removing the shaft and flexing the cv

 

Per the 2016 owners manual

"Front Driveshaft Lubrication — 2500/3500
(Four-Wheel Drive Models Only)
Lubricate the front driveshaft grease fitting at each oil change. The grease fitting is located at the rear of the front driveshaft, near the centering mechanism of double cardan joint. Refer to the “Maintenance Schedule” for the proper maintenance intervals. Use MOPAR Type MS-6560 (lithium-based grease), or equivalent. Front Drive Shaft Double Cardan Joint"

 

Is this pretty simple to do while the shaft is still attached to the vehicle? I don't know how I never stumbled on this earlier.

 

removing the drive shaft is not needed. you need grease gun with flexible hose and lincoln needle attachment. dont use alot of grease or it spooges out the back side

Easy to remove driveshaft, but not needed. The grease is Mopar MS-6560 Part 5083150AA, $12 on amazon

 

Ok,,,maybe you can....I think it is pretty interesting that you showed a removed/flexed cv joint to show it.....

removing the shaft is completely unnecesarry and a waste of time with no advantage what so ever. like i already said, get the licoln needle and flex hose

 

My driveshaft was out as I am installing a 8" BDS lift kit, and the transfer case had to come out to install an index ring.

 

Piece of cake with the driveshaft installed on the truck when using proper needle fitting on grease gun. It's even easier on my 2015 than it was on my 2010 thanks to the CAD allowing me to turn the shaft by hand with both tires on the ground to access the fitting. On my old truck I had to jack a wheel to spin the shaft.

This may be a dumb question but here goes, can and how would the push
fitting be replaced. I tried to grease my 2500 today and the fitting will

What are you going to replace it with? Have you tried using the right tool for the job of greasing it?

Use this fitting and any good grease. Lincoln Lubrication 5803 Grease Needle Nozzle. It makes it easier while holding pressure on the nozzle with a flashlight in the other hand to have someone pump the grease gun. I have my spouse pump the gun. You don't need much and if done properly you can see a nice ring of new grease opposite of the fitting.I use Lucas Marine Grease only because that is what my Vortex hubs call out for the boat.

 

DAH !!! Open the hood,,,There is a Sticker on the on the front or side cross member by the Front Fender or Radiator with a Picture if the Front U-Joint and the Needle Grease Tip Zert location plus it lists the "Chrysler MS-6560 05083149AA" Grease Part Number... You can buy it on eBay or Amazon...
