Just curious why a web forum dedicated to Dodge and Ram trucks titles this gen 4 portions of the forum "Dodge Ram"?
The Ram division was created when Chrysler joined with Fiat. Though Ram is owned by the Chryser/Fiat corporation, it is not be confused for being the same company as Dodge since they split apart in 2010. Ram kept the original logo of the Dodge trucks (full curl bighorn ram) when they split, but they no longer produce the full size truck line with Dodge. That's exactly why you will not find a single word that says "Dodge" anywhere on the newer trucks, nor will you hear the word "Dodge" mentioned in a commercial or other advertisement. Technically speaking, Chrysler produces the Hemi engine. Though the new eco-diesel engines are produced by an Italian company called VM Motori which is owned 50/50 by Chrysler Fiat and General Motors (GM). And to venture further, Cummins is a whole 'nother company.
So either Chrysler, VM Motori, or Cummins produce the engines and Ram makes the truck, so where does Dodge come in with the new trucks?....Nowhere to be exact. Point being that to call a late model Ram truck a "Dodge Ram" is completely incorrect.
You could maybe call the new trucks a "Chrysler Ram", but that doesnt come off the tongue to well.
Just some info I thought I'd share for folks that may not have been aware of this.
