I had a custom car cover made for my RAM(I'm in Florida), but also use a sun shield in front when it's not covered. My factory rear slide window is tinted so dark from the factory it looks black from outside, is yours tinted? maybe you need darker tint in back.

 

Yes, mine is tinted. But I was looking for a bit more protection. I thought about a cover but don't want to deal with taking it off and on every day.

 

go with the new nano technology window tint it keeps out about 90 percent of the suns heat. I have it on my drivers door windows you keep your arm on the door panel and not get hot from the sun.

 

The rear headrests are so damn tall
just make something that fits over them, or use a huge beach towel that drapes over both of them

 

Just take the headrest out. Put them back if you ever need them. I took them out of my qc and didn't put them back till. I traded it in.

What about the rear defroster? Wouldn't that void the tint option?

 

Never heard of it, I would just tint. I am actually fixin' to get my windows tinted. Going to do clear on the back 3 and windshield and 35% on the front side windows. I believe the shop I am going with uses Rayno S9 ceramic. AFAIK a rear defroster does not preclude tinting-just the defroster has to be on the glass first, and since its a factory defrost then you should be good

 

I tinted the windows. I added 20% over the factory rear window tints, 20% on the front side and did a 5% strip on the windshield. No issues at all with visibility at night.

 

Do what Thuderhorse is doing on the rear glass. The clear Airblue 80 from Llumar or the 3M Crystylline are the best for those that don't want the darker tints. Cuts down the UV intrusion and makes a huge difference with cabin temps.

 

I put the Llumar Air 80 on the windshield and rear door windows on my crew cab. I have a rear window defrost so skipped on back window...some folks have issues of it pulling off/breaking the defroster wires if you need to remove the film. Put Formula One Pinnacle 30 on the front door windows. Really close match. Keeps out the Florida sun UV and heat.
